The additional conversions primarily concern obtaining resources not available on any individual map, and can be disabled individually within the mod's configuration settings, WARNING! (not seen anything in the config to disable power requirement) and by default needs 3 transmitters to do a full scan, although that can be changed in the config, SS transmitter works without any power and you just need one so it's ideal for carrying around or map hopping, I prefer the structure pickup in S+ as the gun highlights whatever you're pointing at, prevents accidents like picking up tree/cliff/ocean platforms by mistake and trashing everything on them, SS mutators are probably better depending on how you like to set things up, they have 3 ranges which you can select in the radial menu, S+ mutators have fixed range of 10 foundations which you can increase or decrease in the config, it can be a pain in the ass if you have it set high and need to make an area for swapping gender away from all your other dinos with SS you just change it to small, it's not a massive thing but like I said it depends on how you have your breeding area set up, I've not used S+ ocean platforms yet, I like the SS one's though as they're like a floating foundation so you can make a custom size platform and it's fairly easy to build down off of them so you can easily make water pens, S+ has a chibi gun so if you're making a clean start outside an event and want the 5 extra chibi levels you can convert any tame as long as it has a chibi version in the game.
